Pigtailz
Junction Sanctuary – Potbelly Pigs
|
Potbelly pigs are our largest herd of pigs at Pigtailz Junction Sanctuary. My first pig, Willy, is a potbelly. Some are mixed breed with feral pigs from the south. These pigs were either rescued from horrible situations, surrendered to us by their owners, or found on the road. |

Some of the pigs are blind because they were fed too much
and the fat covered over their eyes.
One of the blind pigs, Duke, came with his friend…Duck! Duck loves Duke and is very protective of
his buddy (pictured here with Isabelle – my house pig). |

All the pigs have freedom to roam the pastures on the
farm. In the springtime, wild
daffodils bloom in the fields. There
are Black walnut trees, which the farm hogs crack open and eat. We sow pasture seed every spring. The pigs have a diet of special milled
pellets, alfalfa and oat hay, and the grass in the pastures. They are also fed local produce
occasionally. |
