Pigtailz Junction Sanctuary – Ossabaws, Kune
Kunes, Farm Hogs
|
Our Ossabaw pigs began with Bonnie and Clyde. We eventually had 2 liters of pigs that were Ossabaw and Ossabaw-Potbelly mixed. The Ossabaw pigs are kept in a separate herd from all the other pigs. They are quite different from the potbellies – more muscular, longer snouts, and they bark like a dog! Although they look wild, they are actually very friendly and love to have their bellies rubbed! |

We have 2 Kune Kune
pigs at Pigtailz Junction:
Truffles and Ghost. Truffles,
pictured here, loves to roam the pastures grazing on the grass. Ghost is one of our “special-needs”
pigs. He is blind, but he is a
much-loved friendly pig. The Kune
Kunes we have are definitely stubborn…Truffles is likened to a bulldozer when
it comes to food, the only thing ever on her mind. They also never lose their thick, wavy bristles, unlike all the
other pigs. |

Our farm hogs were all rescued from slaughter. Bonnie
and Clyde fell off the slaughter trailer in NJ and Riley, pictured
here, was purchased from a farmer in VA.
Clyde is our largest farm hog, estimated at about 600+ pounds! The farm hogs are huge compared to the
other pigs but are much more sociable. |
